PAYING FOR COLLEGE
The purpose of a financial aid program is to assist students who, without such help, would be unable to pursue their educational goals.
At Morgan Community College, a variety of financial aid programs are available to assist you in meeting your educational expenses. MCC participates in federal, state aid programs and also offers some forms of institutional aid. If you qualify, you may be offered a combination of scholarships, grants, work-study, or loans to help you pay for college.
HOW FINANCIAL NEED IS CALCULATED
In most cases, you must show documented financial need to qualify for aid (some scholarships and loans are exempt). Submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in establishing your eligibility. Your financial need is calculated by the following formula:
COA - EFC - EFA = NEED
COA = Cost of Attendance EFC = Expected Family Contribution EFA = Estimated Financial Assistance (includes grants, scholarships, student loans, veterans educational benefits, and outside resources.) Financial aid will be awarded in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations on a rolling basis until funds are used up. Scholarships and institutional grants require a separate application.
