Five years ago if you had told me that I would be graduating with an AA degree and transferring to UNC, I would have said you are crazy! But that is exactly what I am doing and I couldn’t be happier or more proud of myself than I am right now!
In Fall, 2009, I went to the Wray Center to register my daughter for classes and walked out with a promise to complete my FAFSA and register for my classes.
When I was young, I promised my dad that I would go to college. In my teen years however, rebellion became my best friend and soon I found myself fighting addictions, having children and doing everything but attending college. I felt that I was too stupid and too poor to attend college so I kept putting it off.
My father was diagnosed with cancer this past spring so I am more motivated now than ever to graduate from college. He will see me graduate with an Associate of Arts this December and in two years, with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I owe MCC and the amazing women at the Wray Center my deepest gratitude for helping me to realize my dreams!
